Description:
This presentation will help laboratory staff understand how to effectively set up and perform a comparison of two different methods using the concepts from CLSI document EP09-A3—Method Comparison and Bias Estimation Using Patient Samples; Approved Guideline—Third Edition. Actual statistical data will be shown on charts that will help laboratorians select the best method performance based on clinical need within the laboratory.

Learner Level: Intermediate

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the important study design considerations that enable a sound statistical comparison between two methods.
  • Determine what data analysis techniques are needed for the evaluation.
  • Detail the bias estimation with graphical (difference plots) and regression analysis techniques using statistical software (StatisPro™ and Minitab®).
