Z10 is the most important occupational health and safety standard in the United States because it establishes the requirements for an effective comprehensive management system. Often health and safety programs tend to be a collection of well-intentioned initiatives competing for management attention and necessary resources. Lacking a system to integrate activities, the organization continues fire fighting, chasing a never-ending steam of symptoms (injuries and illnesses) resulting from management system deficiencies.
Implementing a management system based on Z10 can change all of this. The simple, yet powerful, requirements insure that processes and business systems are integrated - mobilizing the organization for continuous improvement in health and safety.
Some improvements in the 2012 revision to Z10 topics include:
- System performance
- Planning - system versus operational planning
- Conducting initial reviews
- Risk assessment at both the system and operational level
- Incident investigation and root cause failures
- Competence assessment
- Design review
- Management of Change
- Major enhancements to appendices:
o Employee participation
o Risk assessment
o Contractors and procurement checklists
Don't miss this important new webinar that will cover all the key changes and provide real life practical guidance on critical situations.
