Hazard Communication Revisited: OSHA’s Proposal to Align the Standard with the Globally Harmonized System

OSHA has proposed to modify its Hazard Communication Standard to align it with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS).  The proposed modifications would change the rule to make it more specific, with detailed criteria for evaluating hazards; specified label elements; and a 16-section safety data sheet. 

During this live webinar event, our presenter, Jennifer Silk, will take you through these proposed modifications - describing them and contrasting them to the existing requirements.

About the Presenter

Jennifer Silk led the team responsible for developing OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard.  She represented the US government in negotiations for the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), and chaired the international group that managed development of the GHS.  A recognized expert on hazard communication and the GHS, she is now retired from OSHA and works as an occupational safety and health consultant,  and a Training Advisor to the United Nations Institute for Training and Research on implementation of the GHS.
