This webinar will address System Safety and Process Safety from the recently published Safety Professionals Handbook by ASSE.
We will introduce system safety terminology that is used in both system and process safety. We will discuss the concepts of risk and risk assessment and how it applies to hazard identification and control. Similarly, once hazards are identified we will then discuss risk mitigation and acceptability criteria. That is, what level of risk from a particular hazard can be deemed acceptable. We will follow with a discussion regarding a few basic design solutions for identified hazards. We will introduce and provide an overview of some of the more popular analysis techniques used in system and process safety. Finally we will discuss the hazard analysis worksheets as a tool for executing system safety and process safety.
