"8" Reliable Principles to Safe Opioid Prescribing

Objectives:
At the end of this activity, physicians should be able to:

• Understand basics of opioid management
• Assess patient and categorize opioid risk
• Recognize strategies for patient follow-up

Safe prescribing of opioids requires understanding how to identify patients at risk and what is considered essential monitoring.  This presentation will discuss 8 key principles that are practical and tested that if understood and implemented will reduce the risk of harm when prescribed opioids.
