On May 3, Rep. Tom Price (GA-6) introduced H.R. 1700, the Medicare Patient Empowerment Act (MPEA), which would establish a Medicare payment option for patients and physicians to freely contract, without penalty, for Medicare services, while allowing patients to use their Medicare benefits.
