| Leadership in Health Care Change: If Not Physicians, Then Who? October 15, 2012 |
Release Date: October 15, 2011 Health system reform has accelerated the movement toward quality, value, accountable care and integration. As we enter a time of unprecedented change in health care delivery, physicians must be positioned to lead and ensure that the evolving system provides quality and value to patients and the community - regardless of the structure of the organization that provides the care or the nature of physicians' relationship with the organization. While physicians and hospitals must ultimately work cooperatively, some observers are concerned that hospitals are positioned and better funded to implement changes necessary to support quality and value initiatives, and that hospital-driven changes would look quite different than physician-driven changes. This program will provide practical information to encourage physician attendees to serve in a leadership capacity regardless of their practice setting and further the delivery of quality and value of patient care, which is the foundation of the patient-physician relationship.
